DOLE Conducts Assist WELL Job Fair for Filipino Repatriates from Libya

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) conducted Assist WELL Job Fair on 28 August 2014 held at the Ichikawa Hall, Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC), Diliman, Quezon City.

Assist WELL is a government program for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who need to go back to the Philippines due to emergency situations such as war, epidemic, and other similar situation.

“We will continue to provide employment services and legal assistance such as the Assist WELL program to cater to the needs of our repatriated OFWs“, DOLE Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz said.

The number of participating employers totalled to 27 which includes 14 local and 13 overseas employers. This includes employers on different industries and sectors. Total job vacancies solicited from local employers reached 5,601 while overseas employers provided 6,659 vacancies. By the end of the mega job fair, one (1) applicant was ‘hired on-the-spot’ (HOTS).

“These signals from industries will serve as a platform for the government in providing employment facilitation services specifically targeted to our jobseekers and also to establishments through the National Skills Registration System (NSRS) and the Enhanced Phil-JobNet (E-PJN)”, Director Dominique Tutay added.

A total of 384 Libya repatriates have participated in the job fair. It is noted that of the total 384 registered Libya repatriates who trooped to the said event, a number of the returning OFWs also availed of the other Assist WELL services. About 9 Libya repatriates have availed the services of the NRCO. 54 individuals have availed the POEA legal assistance. The BWSC monitored 4 Libya repatriates that have asked/inquired for livelihood assistance.

The total number of qualified job applicants reached 548 and those who were requested for further interview totalled 628.
