Michael Gravador, 24 years old, has a Bachelor’s degreein Hospitality Management in Negros Oriental State University, Dumaguete City.
He is from Santa Catalina, a municipality in Negros Oriental which is 98 km away or about 3 hours from Dumaguete City.
He is currently undergoing his internship as a food and beverage attendant at Casablanca Restaurant and Delicatessen in Dumaguete. He is renting a small accommodation in Dumaguete for the training.
Prior to JobStart, Michael did not have any job experience. He shared that after graduating, he had been looking for a job for 4 months until he found out about JobStart. When asked how he learned about the program, he said that a friend recommended it to him. He was told that the program is looking for people who are searching for work.
“The Life Skills Training helped me discover my personality more,” he said. He liked the lessons on building personality and confidence and handling people’s differences. He also shared that his communication skills have improved.
He applied in Casablanca because it is related to his course of study. When asked about his goals and dreams, he happily shared that he wants to become a manager at a hotel someday. He knows that his training in Casablanca is a stepping stone toward reaching his dreams.
He also shared that training in the food and beverage industry has helped him improve his time management skills and how he handles people’s complaints.
