The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) reported a year-on-year increase of 468,000 jobs generated in the construction sector based on a Labor Force Survey conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority in April 2018. DOLE Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III said, “We are elated with the strong performance of the construction sector. In April 2018, total employment in the sector reached 4.012 million from 3.544 million during the same period in 2017. This is a 13.2-percent increase.”
BLE and regional implementers strengthen strategies for optimum delivery of DOLE programs through SPES, GIP and PESO
The Bureau of Local Employment (BLE), in cooperation with DOLE NCR, successfully conducted this year’s Workshop and Capacity Development Training on the SPESIMO, GIP and the Revised SBP Manual for the DOLE Regional Implementers from 19-23 March and 2-6 April 2018. The workshop and training focused on cascading program updates and resolving issues which surfaced during the implementation of the programs of the Department.
In line with the Bureau of Local Employment’s (BLE’s) long-term goal of permanently establishing and institutionalizing all of the PESOs nationwide, the Bureau has once again put its maximum effort and resources for the Training on PESO Institutionalization of the second batch of Local Chief Executives (LCEs) and PESO Managers last 10-12 April 2018 at Royce Hotel, Pampanga.
The initial activity started off with a site visit and a benchmarking activity in the Provincial Capitol where the best practices of the Provincial PESO of the Province of Pampanga were showcased.
